FS-INS-16Z 16-Zone Insole Pressure Sensor

The FS-INS-16Z is a flexible insole sensor with 16 sensing zones for multi-point plantar contact sensing. Each zone provides a resistance response to applied force. A compatible acquisition circuit is required to read the sensor, and calibration is required to convert readings into force or pressure values.

How the Insole Sensor Works

The sensor combines flexible polyester film, conductive tracks, and pressure-sensitive material. Applied force changes the resistance at each sensing zone. The readout circuit converts that resistance response into electrical data for your application.

Connector and Data Acquisition

The sensor has 20 terminals: 16 sensing-zone terminals, 2 common terminals, and 2 unused terminals. Follow the current sensor drawing for the pin assignment and mating connector. Use compatible multi-channel acquisition electronics to read the 16 zones.

Can I connect the sensor directly to a PC or phone?

The sensor itself outputs resistance changes. PC or phone integration requires acquisition hardware and a compatible communication interface. Confirm the interface and protocol for the selected acquisition kit.

Are the readings already calibrated?

Confirm the calibration supplied with your acquisition hardware and software. Raw readings require calibration under known loads before conversion to force or pressure units. Pressure conversion also requires a defined contact area.
